Tyngsboro, Mass. – June 10, 2020 –– Despite the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, sometimes the show must go on. Celebrations were held all over the country this past weekend as proud students graduated in augmented graduation ceremonies thanks to the careful planning and support of town officials, schools and volunteers.

Hats off to the graduates of the classes of 2020

One great example is the amended graduation celebration held by Brookline High School on Sunday, June 7th. The socially distant ceremony honored their graduating seniors with a red carpet and drive-by parade along the streets of Brookline, MA. The staggered event occurred over 5 hours and required everyone in attendance to wear masks and gloves. Students graduated individually in front of the Schluntz Gymnasium where their name was read aloud, they received their diploma, posed for photos and then tossed their cap in the air.

This non-traditional event was a victory for Brookline High students who signed a Charge.org petition to hold an in-person, not virtual, graduation ceremony. Many concessions where made for public safety and guests were limited to include only immediate family members.

To share this event with the entire community, as well as the friends and extended family of graduates, the event was live streamed on Brookline Interactive Group’s cable RCN channels 3 and 613, and Comcast channel 3. Volunteer, Russell Whittaker of Broadcast Pix, covered the live event using a BPswitch RX mobile video production switcher.

All of us at Broadcast Pix would like to congratulate all the graduating classes of 2020. Your academic achievement deserved to be celebrated and we wish you all the best in your next adventure. Congratulations!
